hey hey hey!! my " gardeners " section of my pinned is in desperate need of tending to, so i'm softly resetting it. that said, tap the heart if you'd like to be mains, affiliates, or exclusives, and i'll scuttle into your messages to talk about it! this post does a wonderful job explaining what each term means, but for this blog specifically, just keep in mind...

if you'd like to be mains, we need to have a dynamic established between our muses. we can absolutely discuss a dynamic now if we haven't already and move forward with the intention to focus on that dynamic -- that's fine by me <3 but i want to start digging into plots and developing relationships, and that's much easier if i have a clear picture of who our muses are to each other.

affiliates are in a similar boat, but i feel that they require more communication and plotting. if we're affiliates, that means our muses play an active, " canon " role in each other's stories, be it their main or au verses. or maybe this means we're making verses for each other's lore. whatever way you spin it, being affiliates means i'm in your messages rambling like a madwoman with blocks of text sometimes -- be prepared!!

i dunno how i'll list them neatly yet, but i'm also using this opportunity to discuss exclusives. i think this will mainly apply to my romantic shipping partners, but i'm generally open to discussing your canon muse being the only version chiyo interacts with if we're vibing and/or have a well-established dynamic. shipping partners merely have to ask, but if we're newly talking/interacting, that'll require more discussion and development.

Ok fuck it. Fuck it I need to rant. I'm disappointed to the high heavens. This just looks like X and Y again. It just looks like they finally bothered to get off their asses and make Pokémon Z like everyone begged for 10+ years ago and they're trying to relabel it as a Legends game. You know what the word "legend" means? It means OLD!!! It's a fantastical tale of days long past! PAST! NOT FUTURE! Why are we in the future!!! There are no legends about the damn future, only the past!!!

How cool would it have been if we were in the Pokémon equivalent of Napoleonic France? If the protagonist was from a lower-middle-class family (maybe even lower, a genuinely struggling protagonist would be interesting, especially within this time period), who set out with their Pokémon to earn money to help out, only to end up caught in the middle of a nationwide shitstorm? What if you ventured throughout the region, through the beaches and mountains and beautiful French/Kalosian countryside, all the way to Paris/Lumiose, where the societal rot is at its most obvious and damning? What if the "evil team" wasn't evil at first, just a band of revolutionaries with their hearts in the right place, seeking change and justice for the broke and starving public against the laziness and corruption of the self-absorbed elite? What if the villain was the king at first, because he and the other royals really are as awful as they're stated to be? What if there were (optional, because not everyone was against the French monarchy) side quests to help spread revolutionary propaganda or help the rebels earn money, gather resources, toughen up their Pokémon in preparation for future battles against the royals? Hell, what if there was a rival group of royalists who acted as the rebels' foil, whom you can also help and hinder as much or as little as you liked?

What if there was an honest-to-God violent coup where people and Pokémon stormed the royal palace and destroy everything in sight (and you could be there, battling guards or something)? What if the king was challenged to a battle and lost miserably, proving once and for all how weak and pathetic he is, and thus overthrown and exiled (can't execute him, this franchise is too cowardly to evolve past being milquetoast kiddie shit)? What if the rebel leader, with his dear Empoleon beside him, took his place and crowned himself emperor right then and there, to the overwhelming joy of his followers and sympathizers, dismay of his opponents, and whatever it is the player chooses to feel, because there should be a genuine undercurrent of historical, political and philosophical discussion about all of this throughout the story that encourages us to form our own thoughts and opinions about the situation?

Only for the rebel leader, the Napoleon figure, to turn out worse than the king ever was, and his close subordinates immediately going mad with their newfound power and practically destroying the country. Then they really ARE the evil team for real this time, because they became the tyrants they sought to destroy, and depending on the player's past actions, it might partially be their fault that they succeeded. Imagine the Pokémon equivalent of the fucking Reign of Terror. People and Pokémon being attacked, imprisoned, exiled (again, they're too chickenshit to kill people. Tens of thousands died during the REAL Reign of Terror). Imagine your new mission going from trying to flee Lumiose and go home (only to fail, because they won't let anyone leave outside of being formally exiled out of fear/paranoia about uncontrolled dissidents) to taking an active role against the new regime, battling police to bust innocents out of jail, reuniting families and friends torn apart by fear and force? Imagine a heated battle against the stand-in for Maximilien Robespierre to help put an end to the madness!!! What if you went to libraries and picked up newspapers and listened to the telegraph and discovered everything has been censored in some way? What if you went into houses and found depressed wives and mothers and sisters and daughters, and opened letters from the men in their families (and their Pokémon, too) who were conscripted into the Kalosian army because the Emperor is trying to wage wars against neighboring regions to fulfill territorial ambitions (which actually did happen, Napoleon's France was constantly at war, which majorly tanked the economy because all the men were sent off to die or be horrifically injured. Remember when they tried to invade Russia? Over half a million troops went, barely 1/6 of them came back)? The climax of the story + defeat of the Emperor in battle can be a nod to the Battle of Waterloo!!! The post-game can have the player looking for runaway rebels like how you hunted for the Sages in post-game Black and White! What if there was a limited time mystery gift event where you could win a ferry ticket to the island the former Emperor is imprisoned on, JUST LIKE THE ACTUAL NAPOLEON, and there was a final cutscene between you and him where you discuss everything that happened and he asserts that he did what he had to and he still believes that he was acting in Kalos's best interest!!! Because many of the revolutionaries really did think that way, they believed they were doing right by France!!! Even when they jailed and murdered thousands of innocent people!!!

But no, we don't get cool shit like that, we get AZ running a fucking inn for whatever reason and an "urban redevelopment plan" that's literally just "let the Pokémon trash half the city with zero repercussions or any consideration for the homes and businesses in the areas they overrun". What the fuck man

though the departed have long since transcended to a realm that is beyond mortal reach, traces of their existence continue to remain left behind like the feathers of a snow-winged goose that has taken flight. aside from his vision—its rekindled permanence forever a stark reminder of the burden that must be carried—amélie also harbors another relic of ███ and unlike the former, its presence harbors much more fond memories from a simpler time.

when she was still a child, on his fifteenth birthday, the boy had urgently roused her from sleep in the dead of night, showing her two tickets for a performance happening in the opera epiclese that very day. hesitant to leave the comforts of her bed, the boy’s enthusiasm—which had been a rare sight in regards to his otherwise stoic demeanor—was difficult to ward off. and so, in silent acquiescence, amélie would accompany ███ to the court of fontaine, lending an ear to his passionate musings, which was an uncommon indulgence for him before arriving at their destination.

the opera house felt larger than life itself back then; regal halls decorated with oil paintings gilded in gold, polished marble floors, and chandeliers that dangled high from the ceiling, sparkling in their opulence. amélie won’t forget how out of place she had felt the entire time, especially once they had taken their seats on those velvet chairs that felt as though they were made to sit royalty. but as the lights dimmed and a ballerina, alongside her violinist took to the stage—accompanied by a fellow orchestra—amélie was no longer just a little girl sitting in the theater.

following that night, ███ had insisted they learn the piece, with the hopes of one day getting to perform it for themselves. he would play the violin and she would play the role of the ballerina. they would practice for countless hours along the shorelines of petrichor playing until either his fingers grew calloused or her legs became too sore to move. in the end.. they never would get to play that piece together and their only audience had ever been the pale moon above.

years later, amélie now returns to that spot on the shorelines, unaccompanied and with a violin in hand—his violin. it has remained untouched for quite some time now, strings taut from a lack of attunement and the hollowness from within more apparent than when he had held it. but here on this familiar stage, where the waves slowly fall in and out of the tide and the moon offers its faint gaze upon her just as it did all those years ago, the lonely ballerina takes hold of the violin once more.

“to you my friend. may the stars of this sky guide you on into the afterlife, and may you find peace in a world much kinder than this one.”

   This sandwich place is a markedly less prestigious than Simon can afford, but he rather likes the simplicity of it.  He often finds himself bored of the showy places where the chefs and owners fail to realize how little they are actually worth.  He can tolerate quite a lot, but sometimes, someone on an ego trip can be a bit dull.

   He waits in line, rocking himself back and forth on his heels with his hands stuffed deep in his khaki pockets while he waits.  Nearby stands another man, looking tired and wearing the drab button-up shirt typical of middle-class office workers.

   Simon beams at him, intent on making some small talk while they wait.  He simply cannot tolerate going anywhere in complete silence.  “Hello!  What are getting, if you don’t mind my asking?  I’m partial to the prosciutto myself.”

dovid couldn’t speak. his hands were shaking; he couldn’t feel the tremors, but staring down at his hands, he could see that his fingers were moving. he could see they were covered in blood, too. in fact, his whole body was covered in blood. dovid had given way to believing jillian about death coming back from them, but it was totally different to acting seeing it. to see his frat brother get sliced in half by a mini golf windmill, just like in his picture. was he still screaming? he couldn’t tell. couldn’t feel anything. all he could do was blink down at his hands. only when he sensed a shadow looming over him did dovid look at jillian and the rag she was using to wipe blood off of his face. in an instant, he began to cry. “jillian.” he sniffed, “you were right.”

He's thought that exact thing several times before, but it's never been as starkly obvious - or as utterly terrifying - to consider as it is right now. And yet somehow, despite the cold sweat he's broken into and the state of denial he can't seem to break out of, he clings to the thought like a lifeline, because the alternative possibility - that he is, in fact, completely sane after all - is even more terrifying to consider.

He wants to laugh to himself hysterically, and for a moment, he almost does just that - letting out a strange, high-pitched chuckle that honestly sounds rather desperate. But then he shakes his head and finally asks the question on his mind-

"You- what are you...!? There's no way you're human, right...?"

Y'all are gonna think I'm so weird.

But I'm running with this idea I've had for a while for my mcl ocs. Well, other than the actual other mcl ocs I've made.

It's part lazy, part bizarre.

Clones.

Yep, clones.

My MCL NG oc is a clone of the original Puku, but different. I haven't figured out the details yet, but it's like what I did with Pukun, Puku's male clone. It has the idea of a type of clone theory idea of nature vs nurture. The DNA and nature of the puku clones is the same, but the nurture is always a bit different depending on circumstances. Puku "prime" is the parent of all the clones made, but Puku "prime" had a different parentage and upbringing than the clones. Not to mention, the events of each mcl game has different outcomes for clone Puku.

This Puku has -teal- hair and is a zoomer, I guess. Raised by Puku "prime" and has the existential grappling of dealing with being a clone in general.

There's... still a lot of ironing out to do. Like... Where does Kentin fit into all this? How should I incorporate the family given to Puku 2.0 in New Generation?
